The Byron Colby Barn, a Lake County dairy barn, was built in 1885 and restored in 1996 to serve as a community center for Prairie Crossing and the larger community. Prairie Crossing is a widely acclaimed conservation community in Grayslake, Illinois. The community was designed to combine the preservation of open land, easy commuting by rail, and responsible development practices.

Hi, we’re Chet and Kelly. We like each other. We have two dogs, Kingsley and Mustache.
We met in December of 2004, and have been a dynamic duo since 2005. In addition to crime fighting, we have also worked together to invent turkey sandwiches and the cotton gin.*
*This sentence is not even remotely true.
While our relationship started in the tradition of most 22 year olds (concerts, bars, and road trips), we developed a mutual passion for social justice and began volunteering together.
Inspired by President Obama’s commitment to community service, we spent all of 2007 and 2008phone banking, knocking on doors, and organizing community service events. Oh yeah, we also did the little thing of electing the first black president in our nation’s history. Ever. Count it.
After putting our lives on hold for those two years, we decided we were ready to make up for lost time. Chet proposed on Inauguration Day under a red, white, and blue balloon drop...in awerewolf mask. We both got new jobs working in the non-profit world, and we just boughtour first hometogether in Chicago.
We look forward to enjoying our new marital tax breaks together, and we are so excited to share our wedding day with all of our family and friends! Like, totally.

You know we aren’t in this for the money and fabulous prizes, but giving gifts is generally how these things go down. We greatly appreciate anything and everything you would like to do to help along the beginning of our lives together.
